Owner & Designer behind Katie Made That
I'm a letterer born and currently living in Austin, Texas. After graduating in 2013 from The University of North Texas with a BFA in Communication Design, I worked for several years as an art director at Greatest Common Factory. In 2017, I opened my own freelance lettering studio and paper goods shop.
While I love creating any kind of design work that features ornaments, filigree, and details galore, lettering is the niche that speaks to me the most. The best part about lettering is that it sits at the intersection of verbal and visual communication which creates so many unique opportunities for expression.
I’m constantly inspired by historical periods such as Art Nouveau and enjoy every opportunity to infuse some of the past into modern lettering.
The Freelance Studio
I take on freelance work and commissions, including (but not limited to):
Lettering and design for greeting cards, books, editorial, packaging, product licensing, branding/identity, etc…
Check out my portfolio to see my work and feel free to send an email to Hello@KatieMadeThat.com about whatever you've got in mind!
The Paper Goods Shop
All of the products in my shop are designed by me in my home studio. I work with local Austin printers to screen print my larger poster-sized prints. The remainder of the products are carefully printed in my home studio in full-color on premium, sustainable paper stocks.
My products are also available for wholesale!
